ABOUT US:
COCO Cafe is a community-owned and operated organization whose mission is to provide employment, training, and socialization opportunities for people with developmental disabilities within their community. We have been operational for 10 years in Cedar. We are a group of like-minded individuals who have a passion for inclusion and creating a better community by providing a safe and welcoming space for all members of society to gather over food and coffee.
EMPLOYMENT LOCATIONS:
COCO Cafe- 1840 Cedar Rd, Nanaimo BC, V9X 1H9 (Cedar location)
COCO Cafe is a busy cafe located in the heart of Cedar. COCO offers a variety of specialty beverages, baked goods, along with outstanding breakfast and lunch menu options. Our current hours of operation are Wednesday-Sunday from 8 am-3 pm. Employment opportunities vary from:
Customer service- Point of Sales experience and the opportunity to interact with guest
Barista- producing specialty beverages and tending to customers needs
Cooking- baking, preparation, and cooking on the line
Dishwashing- learning speed and efficiency while emerging yourself in a busy work place environment
We also prepare all of the food for our catering sector out of this location. Employment opportunities vary from:
Kitchen Helper- prep work and assembly of frozen commercial retail products.
Prep Cook- prepare products for catering and frozen commercial retail products
Catering Server- attends events and helps serve the guests and clears dishes when the guests have finished dining.
Catering Prep Cook- Helps prepare catering menu items under the supervision of Catering Chef
Catering Event Cook- Goes to the various catering events to prepare, serve, and clean up t the event.
